Product and substance regulations

The aim of all legislation in the chemical industry is to protect human health and the environment

The documentation and evaluation of the intrinsic properties of substances are at the heart of the chemical inventories. Articles or mixtures that are offered to the consumer are, on the other hand, subject to product-related regulations. Such product-related regulations apply, in particular, to the areas of electrical/electronic goods (ROHS, WEEE), end-of-life vehicles (ELV), volatile organic compounds (VOC), packaging, building products, indoor air quality, cosmetics, and washing and cleaning products.

To make consumers aware of the ecological manufacture of products, they can be labelled with environmental seals (such as the German “Blue Angel”). Certain chemicals are completely prohibited in articles due to their harmful effects on human health and the environment (e.g. polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in tyres).
