Communication in accordance with REACH (Article 33)
At the request of consumers, the supplier of an article must disclose the identity of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) within 45 days. This applies if the concentration is at least 0.1% of the total mass.
This is no easy task for the supplier, who is able to provide this information reliably and on time only when adequately informed by the parties in its supply chain. Especially in supply chains which make use of the global market, and are thus not entirely subject to REACH, the information flow is often delayed, incomplete or incorrect.
European importers therefore need to set up a suitable system allowing them to accurately describe and document on an internal basis raw materials, semi-finished products or components from external suppliers. In this way and this way alone can the deadline laid down by law for the prompt processing of consumer requests be met.
