Chemical control regulation in the EAEU: Article in Lexxion journal “StoffR” published

Dr Dieter Drohmann, CEO Chemservice, and Dr Dominik Kirf, Managing Director Chemservice S.A. (Luxembourg), have published an article on the new Eurasian chemical control regulation in the 1/2020 issue of the German journal “StoffR” (by Lexxion).

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), including besides Russia also Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, has passed a new chemicals law in 2016, which shows many similarities to the EU REACH regulation and is therefore also known as “Eurasian REACH” or “Eurasia REACH”. The new chemicals law will come fully into force end 2021/beginning 2022 and contains at first instance the inventory notification of all chemical substances/mixtures that are placed on the EAEU market. The notification to the chemicals inventory is possible until 1 May 2020.

The article, published in the journal “StoffR”, describes the development of Russian and Eurasian chemical control regulation, outlines the process of inventory notifications and points out the expected challenges for companies affected by the new Eurasian chemicals law.
