Report on Regulatory Landscape in Argentina published in the journal ICRL

Dr Jaime Sales, Managing Director Chemservice Iberia, has published “A Review on the Regulatory Landscape on Management of Chemicals in Argentina” in cooperation with Agustín Harte from the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development of Argentina, in the latest issue of the “International Chemical Regulatory and Law Review” (ICRL 3/2019, Vol. 2).

The report focuses on the development of chemical control legislation in Argentina and outlines the fact that currently various legislations are in place which involve different authorities. Argentina has already implemented chemical laws complying with international agreements and works in strong collaboration with other South American countries (e.g. Mercosur). A comprehensive chemicals management is planned, but has not been approved by the Argentinian government, yet.

The report mainly focuses on the existing regulations covering GHS, pesticides, cosmetics, food contact materials, and electronic waste. Jaime Sales and Agustín Harte come to the conclusion that Argentina’s previous actions show the clear intention to ensure chemicals control and that it is worth following the further developments in Argentina’s regulatory landscape.
