Article on chemical control legislation in Thailand published in the German Journal Stoffrecht
Dr. Dieter Drohmann, Managing Director of the Chemservice Group, and Dr. Dominik Kirf, Senior Manager Regulatory Affairs at Chemservice S.A. and Certified & EUROTOX Registered Toxicologist, have published an article about chemical control legislation in Thailand in the 5/2016 edition of the German Journal Stoffrecht.
In the light of the ambitions of the Worlds Summit on Sustainable Development, held in Johannesburg in 2002, also Thailand has established chemical control regulations aiming at environmental protection.
The article gives information on the Hazardous Substance Act and includes a chart showing the appropriate procedure for im- and export of hazardous substances. Additionally the article focusses on the Thailand Existing Chemicals Inventory (TECI) and indicates the registration deadline on December 31, 2016 for hazardous substances, which are not classified within the 4 categories of the Hazardous Substance Act. Dieter Drohmann and Dominik Kirf also mention Thailand’s attempts to implement GHS and illustrate the differences to UN GHS standards.
Finally the authors show their expectations of the chemical control regulations in Thailand but also point out that there is still some inadequateness.
