“Russia passes new chemicals law” – Article in the journal Stoffrecht published

Dr Dieter Drohmann and Natalia Jansen-Bouriatchenko have published an article in the 4/2017 edition of the German Journal Stoffrecht, focusing on the recent Russian chemicals law reform.

After giving an overview on the historical development of the Russian chemicals management since the time of the Soviet Union, the authors take a look at the key aspects of the new chemical legislation. The legislation was passed on October 7, 2016 and will come into effect on July 1, 2021. Basically, it is harmonized with the European REACH Regulation. The authors point out that the new Russian chemicals law was developed to protect Humans, Animals and the Environment, but they also note that the legislation will bring huge challenges for companies, especially for medium-sized ones.
