Article about the Korean SSIC list published in the journal StoffR

Jae-Seong Choi, Yu-Jeong Choi and Sol-Ah Song of Chemservice Asia, and Dr Dieter Drohmann, CEO Chemservice, have contributed an article about the Korean SSIC list, in comparison to the EU REACH candidate list, in the recently published issue 2/2022 of the Lexxion journal StoffR.

In January 2022, the Korean Ministry of Environment (MoE) updated the list of Substances Subject to Intensive Control (SSIC) under K-REACH.

The Korean SSIC list has many similarities to the REACH candidate list for Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) in the EU. For example, almost the same criteria used to identify the substances apply in both cases. However, there are also differences that need to be taken into account.

The article provides an overview of the Korean SSIC list, works out similarities and differences to the REACH candidate list and points out consequences for industry.
