New requirements for MSDS in Korea – Chemservice Team published article in the journal StoffR

The latest issue of the Lexxion journal StoffR (1/2021) contains an article by Dieter Drohmann, CEO Chemservice, Jae-Seong Choi, Branch Manager Chemservice Asia, and Sun-Jong Park, Regulatory Affairs Advisor Chemservice Asia, on the new requirements for Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) according to the amendment of the Korean Occupational Safety and Health Act (K-OSHA).

On January 16, 2021 the K-OSHA amendment came into force, defining the obligations related to the preparation and submission of MSDS for actors on the Korean market more precisely. The main changes of the K-OSHA amendment are the newly introduced online portal for submitting MSDS to the Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor (MoEL) and the stricter rules when it comes to the disclosure of Confidential Business Information (CBI). In their article, the authors provide an overview of the new requirements, mainly on the process of preparing MSDS and submitting to the Korean authority. The new regulations also affect non-Korean manufacturers/formulators; the Only Representative (OR) system has now been established under K-OSHA, too.
